So I have been thinking a lot about abundance these days and what it means to me which is what I am going to write about today.
How many of us actually looked around us and taken note of all that we have? So many times it is easy instead to see that which we feel is lacking in our lives. We look at others and compare ourselves and our lives to others around us. We look at their homes, vehicles, relationships and view theirs as more successful or better then ours. These thoughts come from place that is not of the heart it is ego, pride and fear that make us feel a sense of lacking in our lives. Our sense of self gets lost in the outer material world and sometimes in our self centered fear of how we feel others may be viewing us and our lives. We are all here to live our lives and follow our path. Mine is not my neighbors nor his mine. So how do we get to a place where we can view abundance as something more then material?
I have found over the years that my needs have always, always been met. I may not have always had everything that I wanted but I always had everything that I needed.
So many of us spend years chasing our tails to find the perfect job, the perfect partner, the perfect home, the perfect car and so on and so on because these are the things that are going to make us happy. Only to find that once we acquire all of those perfect things we are still not happy and have moved on to acquiring the next perfect thing that is going to bring us happiness. We still experience a sense of lack. We are still not happy and fulfilled. Why is that? We live in a time where it is all about bigger, better, faster, stronger. More, more, more. We are trying to keep up with the Joneses……….who the heck are the Joneses anyway?
Just think about all the changes in your life time. Everything now is super sized. Our homes, our vehicles our meals. Excess is everywhere and it appears as if have just accepted this as the norm. How many of us can say though that we are truly happy and content with our lives? To the outside world looking in it may appear that we have it all. We are living the dream. The house, the job, the relationship, the kids and dogs etc. How many of us are still living with a sense of lack? How many of us are still looking for outside things to fill us up?
Happiness is an inside job and no matter how many things that you acquire you will not find your happiness in those things. Oh yes you may experience fleeting fulfillment upon the acquisition and then that will fade and you will be moving on looking for the next fix. Some of the happiest people I have ever had the honor to know where the people with the least amount of money or material things. I was fortunate enough to love and be loved by two of the richest men I have ever known. My late Uncle Reg and my Bampy (grandfather. They were the most kind, loving and compassion men I knew. The were rich in every sense of the word and it wasn’t about money in the bank or the size of their homes. It was their hearts. They were the most beautiful hearts that I have had the pleasure to know. The legacy they left was one of unconditional love. Our family was fortunate to have them and although they are no longer with us in a physical sense I feel their presence with me always. I am grateful to have those two in my corner.
Don’t get me wrong having money and material possessions is really nice. It makes our lives more comfortable and easier to some extent. Yet the flip side of that is it can leave us wanting more creating an attitude of never enough.
To me abundance is so much more then the material things that I have. It is about the quality of my relationships with others, my ability to give of myself freely without a need for compensation or reward, a feeling in my heart of peace, love and gratitude for all that I have. Like I said in a previous post am I where I thought or do I have all the things I thought I would have at 40? That is a question I don’t really know how to answer because from a purely material perspective the answer is no absolutely not and yet from a spiritual and a heart perspective the answer is more than I ever imagined. Which one has more value? Well that is a totally individual answer to which there is no right or wrong answer. We are all here for on our individual soul journey with our own lessons to learn along the way. Mine is about learning to cultivate and nurture abundance from my heart. When I am able to do that without fear, doubt or worry and trust the wisdom of my heart, abundance flows from and to me from many sources.
AS WE BELIEVE WE SHALL RECEIVE.
It is important that we keep our thoughts, words and actions positive, kind and loving, especially towards ourselves as that is where it all begins. What we project out there to the universe comes back to us tenfold. What is it that you are projecting and attracting? Are your thoughts positive or negative?
Watch your thoughts, just observe for a day what it is you are putting out there. Once you are aware of the chatter that goes on inside of you often unconsciously. You will then be able to make a conscious decision to stay with or to change that thought in turn changing you life. This takes effort and practice. The rewards are limitless. Abundance will flow freely your way often times in ways and from sources you never imagined. Stay open to receiving and take time to connect with the wisdom of your heart because that is where your truth lies. You will never find lasing happiness and contentment by continuing to acquire more things. The happiness with be fleeting at best. Take the time to listen to and trust your heart and the peace, contentment and joy you find there will leave you wanting more. Happiness is an inside job so have a look and see what you find and in turn live your best life. Share yourself freely with others, lead with your heart and trust that your needs will always be met.

Watch your words for they become your actions.
Watch your actions for they become your habits.
Watch your habits for they become your character.
Watch your character for it becomes your DESTINY!” – author unknown
