I had the great pleasure a few weeks ago to attend a Pow Wow up on Georgina Island www.georginaislandtourism.ca on Lake Simcoe. It was an experience that I won’t soon forget. The moment the drumming started I felt a stirring deep inside of me that I can’t explain. Watching the beauty of the very primal dancing along with the rhythmic drumming was awe inspiring to me. Sounds silly but I was almost in tears as it started. Maybe a soul memory?
Have you ever felt a connection to some other culture or place in the world and not understood why? For a very long time I have been fascinated with and felt a connection to all things native – First Nations as well as Mayan. I am not sure why this fascination exists although again it is something that is felt deep inside of me. Could it be my souls memory from another lifetime? That is my belief. Some of you reading this may not share that same belief and I understand that. That is o.k. each one of us is here to work out for ourselves what we believe. I do feel like we have a lot to learn from the First Nations people and I am looking forward to gaining as much insight from them as they are willing to share with me.
I have been told by some that I am looking for the meaning of life in a tomato and maybe that is true. I am the type of girl that takes most things that cross my path as a sign. For example if I see a deer or fox or any other type of animal the first thing that I do when I come home is run for my book – Animal Speak by Ted Andrews to determine what the meaning of that animal is. It may sound silly to some but for me these are the types of that point me in the direction of my truth. You would be surprised by how relevant these things can be. I have learned that the First Nations people also strongly believe in the symbolism of animals among other things.
I am a seeker and have always been. It might appear tiring to some and pointless to others – for me it is a must. I am here to evolve as a spiritual being. We are all spiritual beings here having a human experience. My thoughts are that if we are not evolving and growing then we are stuck in the monotony of life, doing the same things over and over and over again expecting a different result – that my friends is insanity. As a wise man once said to me “if nothing changes – nothing changes.” Thanks Papa!
“WE MUST BE THE CHANGE THAT WE WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD.” – Ghandi
So what do you believe? Do you feel your connection with the universe? Do you feel that the universe supports and guides you along this path or are we all just here to figure things out on our own? More and more I find myself being supported and guided along my path. Everyday a new awareness is brought to my attention and the more that I pay attention to the signs along the way the more I want to be sure that I stay open and connected with this wonderfully supportive and loving energy.
I hope that you too feel and nurture your connection to energy as we travel the winding path to our hearts.
Here is a great little Native Prayer that I would like to share with you:
Great Spirit whose voice I hear in the winds, whose breath gives life to all the world. I come before you as one of your many children. I am small and weak, I need your strength and wisdom. Let me walk in beauty; make my eyes ever to behold the red and purple sunset. Make my hands respect the things you have made. Make my ears sharp that I may hear your voice. Make me wise that I may learn the things that you have taught my people, the lessons you have hidden in every leaf and rock. I seek strength, not to be superior to my brothers, but that I may be able to fight my greatest enemy, myself. Make me ever ready to come before you with clean hands, straight eyes and a pure heart. So that when life fades as the fading sunset my spirit may come to your without shame. Amen
Have a beautiful day everyone.
Namaste,
Lisa
